Getting Started with Custom Values in Your CRM

October 04, 2025•4 min read

Custom Values let you create reusable fields that automatically update across your CRM — in templates, emails, funnels, and more. That means no more going back and editing every single place when something changes.

Example: Let’s say you set up a Custom Value for your business phone number. Instead of typing it everywhere, you simply use a placeholder like {{ custom_phone_number }}. If your number changes, you only update it once in the Custom Values section — and it’s instantly updated everywhere.

We’ve already created some Custom Values for you, but you can add your own anytime. (This is considered an advanced feature.

What Are Custom Values?

Custom Values = Your Built-In Shortcuts

Custom Values work like a shortcut system, made of two parts:

  • Key: A code you can insert anywhere.
    Example: {{custom.website_url}}

  • Value: The actual content that shows up.
    Example: https://www.yourbusiness.com

Instead of typing the same info over and over in emails, forms, or automations, you just drop in the Key. Later, if you change the Value, it instantly updates everywhere in your account — saving time and avoiding mistakes.

Note: the below is for information purposes only. All required Custom Values have already been created on your behalf.

Step 1: Navigate to Custom Values

  • Log into your account.

Note: in your account you will see all the Custom Values we created for you.

Step 3: Fill In the Fields

When creating a Custom Value, you’ll be asked to complete three straightforward fields:

  • Name: This becomes the key used to reference the value. For example, if you name it “Website URL,” the system will automatically generate the key as {{custom.website_url}}.

  • Value: Enter the actual information you wish to display—such as a website link, promotional code, product page URL, or any other relevant detail.

  • Folder (Optional): Use folders to organize your Custom Values for easier access. This is especially useful when managing values across different areas such as marketing, customer support, or product launches.

Step 4: Save

  • Once you have completed the necessary fields, click Create to save your Custom Value.

Note: the above is for information purposes only, and you are not required to create any Custom Values at this point in your setup (or throughout the set up process).

How to Use Your Custom Values

Custom Values allow you to save time and maintain consistency by inserting reusable content throughout your account. Here are a few ways you can use them:

  • Emails: Automatically include details such as your website link, promo codes, or support email.
Example: Add {{custom.summer_discount_code}} to your newsletter to always show the current promotion.

  • Funnels: Reuse links to your best-selling product or return policy without manually updating each time.
Example: Use {{custom.best_seller_url}} on your sales page to keep it linked to your top product.

  • Forms: Autofill key contact details or standard messages.
Example: Add {{custom.business_hours}} so clients know when they can expect a response.

  • Automation Workflows: Ensure consistency in emails triggered by actions such as purchases or cart abandonment.
Example: Use {{custom.support_email}} so customers always receive the correct contact information.

  • SMS (Text Messages): Easily insert links or promo codes in your messages.
Example: “Your 15% off code is {{custom.summer_discount_code}} – shop now at {{custom.website_url}}.”

Note: The above are examples only, and are not live Custom Values.

Pro Tip:

Use Custom Values to store key information such as your business email, phone number, and social media handles. This ensures that if any of these details change, you only need to update them once—saving time and maintaining consistency across all your assets.
